First up; massive congrats to the makers in even getting this out. The challenges that have been documented would have made many give up well before the film had chance to be released. Next time, you can probably Kickstarter the hell out of any such film.

In terms of getting behind and into the characters inside the Manics, I'd say it succeeds very much in doing so. The footage of James being the workhorse as many imagine, alongside much more Sean than is usual is a treat. Nicky gets the most coverage out in the real world anyway, but it's nice to see the little bits and pieces that make him what he is.

If I can be critical about it, I think that it does suffer from the well known delay. As a result the attempt to bring it up to date feels (probably not by choice) a wee bit forced to complete the narrative up to the relative present day.

All told though, to make a doc that lifts the lid on one of my fav bands as a youn'un is quite something and it's nice to reminisce about a time when I was a much bigger fan. Good job!

Held off on buying it. To wait a little longer wasn't going to hurt. My interest in the band is the lowest it's ever been. Not to say I've gone off them, I just have other interests that are paramount at this current moment.

Having watched it though, skeptical at first, I really fucking enjoyed it. Sean totally steals the show. I've laughed out loud quite a few times. And now I really want to go have breakfast in New York with James.

I loved the scenes in the studio recording SATT, particularly the discussion over whether the strings in Autumnsong were 'avant-garde'.

I've watched it twice so far, love it. I just wish it was longer and there was even more extras. The best extra is the James in New York interview, seeing him just chatting while munching breakfast and then out on the street having a smoke is so intimate, it's like you're there with him. Very cool. I want No Manifesto 2

He was wrong about them being out of key though

I remember that bit. He also said he'd have to go off and rewrite the lyrics to be less dumb. He never bothered in the end, sadly, but he knew they were shit before they even released the thing!

I got the dvd a few days ago and I really like how it's put together with footage and interviews, it's nice to hear the musings and see how they relax. I love the music, that James love raw carrots, seeing Nicky at home with his dog and love the footage of Richey I hadn't seen before.

I really enjoyed it.I found it very heartwarming and funny and not at all as cringeworthy with the fan interviews as everyone made out.

I agree, I think that's been rather exaggerated, the fans came across pretty well compared to how crazy they could be.

hehe. I also found I noticed maybe once something they said that was slightly wrong, but hardly big factual inaccuracies...and probably everyone gets everything from well 'everything' anyway.

Finally downloaded it this week -- been so busy!
Been wanting to see it for ages and was excited to watch.

Really enjoyed it - and it was a lot more fun than I expected and it was in no way the Cult Of Richey film it could've been. I'm pleased about that.

One minor quibble, that has nothing to do with the film itself - and I don't mean to offend anyone but...The girl with the Purple Manics hoodie spoke about Richey going missing and said she wondered how 'the boys' will carry on without him (kind of implying she was a fan) and then later in the film states that she was surprised how good ADFL was and said she didn't like the band at that point!
I know it is probably pointless me bringing it up - but it just jarred me a bit.

Anyway - proper good documentary - will watch it again definitely.
Easy to purchase and download as well

Loving the DVD extras today.

James eats his breakfast with the fork in the right hand and the knife in the left... what the fuck's that all about?

Also... "I Am Just a Patsy"
