I'm not as enthused as I was for THB20 at all. Mainly because hearing the THB songs felt unique and unusual.
For the most part, they haven't really stopped playing the EMG tracks, with the odd exceptions (I think the only ones I haven't heard live are Further Away and Interiors, the latter of which I'm not a fan of, anyway). I think from a commercial standpoint it would be smart - will bring back some of the more 'casual' fans from that era for sure. So, I'm indifferent. It would help if they went the whole way with it though, kinda like Suede did, and also played the b-sides from the era. You know, something er... surprising? My biggest issue with this band, who I doth love to death, is the 'setlist problem', i.e. same old, same old, especially with such a huge back catalogue. An EMG tour sadly plays right into this. That said, if they release a new album between then and now, I'll be a lot more forgiving about it. Although admittedly, as much as I loved THB20, it seems that Futurology got a bit shafted. They should really have pimped that one harder because it's a great record.

If they could be bothered to pay for a proper string section to tour with them, sure.
If it's just them and Nasmyth's organ of song death, GTFO. |

I just love the idea that they wouldn't be able to finish with ADFL.

I don't see why there's so much fuss over the poll either. I voted no but if they toured EMG20 it wouldn't bother me because I wouldn't go and nobody's holding a gun to my head to buy a ticket. I don't like the idea because THB was their classic album and I can see why they toured, even though I didn't go. I'd rather remember it as it was first time around and obviously fans who did go got something out of it so that's good BUT to tour every album just because it hits 10 years or 20 years or 25 years is just a bit ... sad. I'm old but I'm not old enough to have seen Ziggy Stardust in 72/73 and it's one of my all time top 10 albums. There's NO WAY I'd want to see Bowie play the album now. It belongs in the past. Other bands I love that I was a little bit too young to see first time around I feel the same way about. Maybe it's a bit different with the Manics because they're still hot young(ish) things, but I kind of believe that some things belong in the time they were created. Playing tracks off old albums is different to playing an album in full. I know fans want to see the band live as often as possible, but I really don't like the idea of touring an old album more than once. |

I understand some people not being interested, but EMG is to somepeople what THB is to others. Not really sure why it would be a much bigger deal to do a few EMG gigs. |

When did they play Mausoleum since 2001 before the album gigs?

I definitely haven't heard Interiors or Removables from EMG. I think i've heard everything else apart from that, maybe not Further Away, I can't remember.
They've done THB and JFPL shows, so I don't see the problem around doing EMG shows. I don't get why they don't play any songs from JFPL now. If they can play THB in full I'm sure they can squeeze in JCEQT once in a while. |

To be honest I think that's a bit perverse, bordering on the pretentious. They put it out as a Manic Street Preachers record, it's inarguably their 9th album. Last edited by Bathtub; 27-02-2015 at 22:25. |

Perhaps because there were no singles from it (JCEQT doesn't exactly count?) they'd feel like they were compromising it as a whole work of art by picking and choosing tracks. Hence the album gigs for it back in 09. That would further feed your bordering-on-the-pretentious line of argument though! |

They've played the odd song separate from that tour, I think they just don't want to for some reason.

MSP are generally against playing interesting stuff that doesn't sell. It's a kinda Pavlovian response thing
