Well, that was really average after one play. Odd single choice, not memorable or catchy. I'd have said it was more album or even b-side material.

lol! Liking Paintings and Rothko gets a mention so that's a mega plus for me!

The solo reminds me of Khruangbin.

Relistening, I still really like it - still getting 98-05-era vibes from it - but it is a bonkers choice for a single, isn't it? Given the comparative success of the previous two - certainly more radio play and higher charts than anything in years - you'd imagine we'd get a third 'big' song. It's definitely an album track, or one of those b-sides that make you go 'ah, so they were trying out other stuff other than the main album sound'.
Kind of surprised we still haven't got a tracklist, only three weeks away now. This is actually quite unusual at this point. Just spotted the CD will be in a card sleeve, that's a first... they're one of the few bands who seem to have been sticking to the jewel case style despite it going very much out of fashion. |

I'm getting hints of JFPL from this one... the little riff before the chorus has got the JFPL title track stuck in my head through the day.

REACHED CONSECUTIVE PLAYS STAGE!
Grateful but ho hum this morning. Went about day. Watched both lyric and standard edition of YouTube video. No, it's actually quite good! It may not be the weirdest guitar solo James has played, but it's definitely the weirdest guitar solo in a single. Beating Nixon, Faster etc. Manics in late 90's-2010 Because Pe-pull Ru-in paaaintinngs Manics now: Because peoplealwaysruinpaintings But damn it, musically it's got Summer all over it! Hot Summers with School in less than a week Summers. So not been evicted off my island yet. But I'm still waiting for referendum advisory result on can I still like the Manics but take the piss and be unable to take seriously without finding hilarious or cute about anything the actual Manic Street Preachers do or say? Decline&Fall 7 Hiding In Plain Sight 9 People Ruin Paintings 8 Also autocorrect nearly made it Hiring In Plain Sight which I don't think the band would be cruel enough to write about. |

Surely the proper video would be a collage of the Blackstar thread which survives?
