1. You are not alone. Nostalgic Pushead is one of my favorite Manics songs. :-D

2. It would be one hell of a read.

HAHA! I know you were agreeing with me hun and I was agreeing with you. My statement about semantics was a general one based on how right you are about the perception abroad that America includes Canada. I suppose we're all Americans, but language wise, America refers to the States and North America refers to Canada, the US and Mexico (most of the Caribbean as well). Sorry if it seemed I was having a dig at you because I wasn't. Your statement regardless of sarcasm, was absolutely bang on!

Yeah, geography wise, we are second only to Russia in terms of landmass. However, I wouldn't go so far as to call us a major power. We fly under the radar a wee bit (which suits most of us just fine) and other than Toronto and Montreal, we're not really a particularly glitzy country nor do we have even close to the population of the States. So it makes sense that the media would be far more interested in them visiting such a massive country in all respects. But you are right (and I thank you for acknowledging it...truly), surely a little less snubbing simply because of our proximity to the States, wouldn't be too much to ask.

First, thank you SO much for scanning this in!

Secondly, the GATS reference just reminded me of what James said in Philly on stage about Nicky listening to GATS on the bus earlier that day and them coming to the conclusion that 'Symphony of Tourrette' sounds like James is singing half of it in german, "fuckin' hell!" (James)

Also, I find it very sad that they only got 2 pages for their american tour when the NME was more than happy to put them on the cover 10 years ago to poke fun at James' weight. Then again, it's to be expected that they're going to go for putting the bands on the cover that are "hot" at the moment, after all, their goal is the same as every other publication, to sell sell sell. I'm just grateful to see the Manics still being talked about somewhere, even if not to the level that they deserve... but then again, isn't that how it has always been?

Thank you again for the scan, I wish I could go back to 2 weeks ago and do it all again!

I really want to hear the original Visconti mix of Lifeblood now, but I don't suppose I'll ever get to

2. Agreed again, The Little Book of Wire would be a bestseller.
Or a Nicky Wire Quote-of-the-Day Calendar.

Oh man, I'm considering actually making a pdf (not for the bestselling bit, obv).

Not at all, for reasons I will never understand large swathes of their fanbase rate it (beyond the singles which I'll give you are good). Historically though I'd always got the impression they didn't rate it which is why I was worried they'd had a change of heart.

And Canada just needs to be a bit patient as the Independant article as and when it appears should give them a mention as he was there for Chicago-Detroit-Toronto.

Cheers for that. Certainly not worth shelling out the £19.80 or whatever the hell NME costs these days...

I love how Nicky says he can't talk about US politics because he's not "expert enough"!
What's with the sudden humility?

Guitar bands, it's dead! They're all shit!
Testify! TESTIFY!

So does this mean the next album is going to be the final guitar album of all time?
Thanks for the scan...man.

Yes, this and the trying to be "nice" thing. In Boston, I told him they need to come back and play Washington D.C. so they can fuck with the Republicans and he said "Oooh, no". I said what's wrong Nicky, you used to be so hardcore and he said he is trying to be nice these days!

Whatever you say Nicky.....
