Do people not read an OPs posts in other threads to see the depth and complexity of his feelings towards the band.

This thread is effectively over after Picard stepped in.

*Adopts after closing time growl* "If you dont like 'em, get the fuck out!"

Some Manics fans are a bit dim.
This thread is getting dull now, I'm more fed up of posts about people being allowed to have their opinion/people should not come on the forum than I am of posts about being bored with the band. Thus:

if certain people are bored of the thread, don't click on it?

word. I may not agree with everything said, but I think some people need to get a grip and realise this is a fucking DISCUSSION board, meaning that a difference of opinions should be allowed to exist to inpsire debate. I thought Manics fans were alleged to be intelligent, rather than the sort to say "NO NO NO, EVERYTHING THE MANICS DO IS PERFECT, AND YOU SHOULD NOT VOICE YOUR OPINION IF YOU DISAGREE."

Well I was up until 2am last night listening to the latest single on repeat.

I think I'm addicted.

I can understand why some people would get bored as the band release a completely different record every time and not everyone is going to like them all.

But how many bands get to ten albums making the same type of record every time?

Most bands are lucky to make three albums and usually two of those are shite.

I can only think of one Manics record that I don't regularly listen to and even that has four or five tracks on it that I love.

The last time the Manics were on Jools Holland I was left contemplating how a band consisting of 40 year old men could look and sound more inspiring than the bands full of twenty year olds that shared the studio with the Manics on that night.

How many bands are there nowadays that have so many great songs that they can't play all of them at a two hour gig?

How many bands are there that play a festival and leave the casual attendee raving about how good they were and how they didn't realise they had so many amazing songs?

I've been doing a survey to find just who else is bored with the manics. Here is part one of my exclusive report.

---

'Mrs 1', 32
Porco: Excuse me madam, could I just ask you a simple question for some research I'm doing?
Woman 1: Ok.
Porco: Are you bored with the Manics?
Woman 1: The Manics? The band? They're not really my favourites 'tell you the truth, I like more R'n'B stuff really. I did like that one song they did, um, about tolerating your children will be next or whatever it was.
Porco: So are you bored with the Manics?
Woman: Not bored, just not interested really.
Porco: Ok, thanks!

Porco: Excuse me sir, could I just ask you a simple question for some research I'm doing?
Young Man 1: Yep.
Porco: Are you bored with the Manics?
Young Man 1: You on drugs bro? I don't need no trouble man.
Porco: No, just wondered if you're bored with the band Manic Street Preachers.
Young Man 1: Oh, them. Nah, they're ok. Gotta go man, parked in the disabled bay, innit.
Porco: Ok, thanks!

More revealing and thought-provoking results coming soon!

Just making sure this thread doesn't fall onto the second page. It's a fair bit off, but you can never be too careful.

I would think we're happy to have constructive criticism of the band done by people who are still fans of the band. However, it gets a little tedious when people seem to have nothing but negative comments about their recent stuff and start loads of threads about it, they rarely fuel proper discusssion, just pointless posting of opinions with no interaction (i may also be guilty of this). Criticise to an extent but this is a FAN FORUM, one could expect a fair amount of support otherwise what's the point?

Salute to you madam!

Pete, It was a silly comment which undermines your otherwise 'reasonably coherent' remarks.

But at no point did the original poster say that they were not a fan anymore. What I sense is the same ambivalence that I'm feeling toward the band, and that is that the band in many ways are still important and special to us to an extent, but after not having enjoyed the last few albums and in many ways, tiring of the old material, we're just not interested anymore. I personally want to hear something fresh and exciting. Personaly I'll still buy the new album. But it's more out of hope than expectation. And I'll still go to the Brixton gig (which I've already bought a ticket for). But I wouldn't dream of doing the whole 'follow them around across the country on tour' thing again.

I know they never said such a thing, I actually defended them a few times against accusations of being a hater, but if people aren't interested then there's not much point on coming here if you don't like the new stuff and are bored with the old stuff, I'm not telling people to leave but grin and bear it if you're so disinterested rather than being negative about everything (not that you personally are).

Fine, have your opinions but the majority here are here to appreciate the band, it's a little vexing quite how much really negative feedback there is.

I dont post on here too often anymore, mainly because of pointless threads like this, but always keep an eye on the forum to see whats going on.

I love everything the manics have ever done and everything they will do, Im sure. (The Descent is a great tune) I personally find threads such as these pointless and boring, think about the people who are going to read it! Loads of Manic Street Preachers addicts!

Anyway, my point was going to be that people should simply not reply to such threads, then they may stop!

Ok even I am bored of this thread now.

People keep recyclign the same points that either I should get out cos I hate the Manics (which I never said), that I should stop creating various threads saying the same thing (which I havent), and that I should stop being so negative all the time (which Im not).

Just so we know where we are:

1. I created a thread criticising the Hammersmith debacle which I feel was justified.
2. I created a thread highlighting the crazy price for a super deluxe edition which has the same songs on it 3 TIMES, which again I believe is justified. The price was never the main issue - its the lack of material and goodies that they are asking fans to shelve out even more for was the issue.
3. I created a thread saying I was "bored" with the Manics. And indeed I was bored listening to various radio shows that went over the back catalogue than giving more insight into the album. Again I think this is a fair reaction. The lack of a leak and lack of any real comment on the album apart from Manic journalists worries me.
4. Here Ive commented on the Clyde session. I thought all the songs sounded brill (even an acoustic Faster). The descent came across very well too. http://www.foreverdelayed.org.uk/for...60#post2054860
5. I appreciate every Manics era for what it is. I am not living in the past nor wish they would make 50 Holy Bibles. Jesus my fav album after HB and JFPL is prob Lifeblood.

I am not an egotist (well...) and Im not turning this thread round to all about me, but seriously when people dont read the narrative of the threads and just come in shouting "if you dont like them...if you hate them...etc (WHICH IVE NEVER SAID!) then get the fook out", its a waste of the finite space of the internetz.

Thats me finished. Im off to read a bit more of To Kill A Mockingbird but the bloody continual shift between ominiscient 3rd person narrator, omniscient 1st person narrator, and then the actual narration reflecting the fact she is a young girl, is getting fucking annoying. Its no wonder Harper Lee only had one hit (but by jesus its prob the most canonical work of American fiction after Huck Finn).

Please read Paul Auster's Invisible and Joshua Ferris's The Unnamed. Two great American novels published in the last year.

Oh and P.S. I was forum raped by Picard wearing a top hat. And I enjoyed it.
