Nemmy, nice list, but there's space for 1985 on there, as well as the margin to release it as a single now as an apology for not doing so in the first place.
also, doubt all 3 singles from PFAYM would make it on, the logic being only 1 single off KYE made it on FD?

I'd be surprised if they didn't put Umbrella on there. If it was only the post-FD albums (which I think is unlikely) they might even stick Secret Society or Firefight on it too.
And Underdogs. Regards, Marwood.

I don't think it will continue where the last one left off. If it's an entirely commercial move to release the compilation, I don't think the label would want to leave off their big hits that casual listeners would want to buy the comp for.

I'm aware some people are going to be bitching about it. But I think it'd be bitchin'! (Sorry) Even though I am setting myself up for disappointment. "Wah! They left off (Insert song titles here)!" |

This is meant to be a best of not public suicide. Still, I suppose if they re-edited it to make them look less like the laziest band ever, it would be worth it. And what with them being the laziest band ever, it doesn't seem all that likely.
Getting the track listing perfect for a career-spanning Manics comp is very close to impossible. For a start if you span the entire career, you can't avoid including some shit. The only constant for me when making homemade comps over the years has been starting with You Love Us, Faster and Motorcycle Emptiness. After that it's all a bit pick 'n mix. |

Seeing as the last two banks are now HSBC and Lloyds TSB, this song would be very out of date.

Maybe a three disc set would be the best way. Disc one - material up to, but not including, Everything Must Go. Disc two - Everything Must Go up to and including Lifeblood. Disc three - Send Away the Tigers onwards, plus a couple of obligatory new songs. In an ideal world each disc would contain some of the singles from each album, a few album tracks and a couple of B-sides.

Here's betting the tinkers at Sony keep "Grace of God" off the newie just to make FD still sellable - it's a classic trick with multiple greatest hits.

I'd prefer a Lipstick Traces part 2, with radio sessions, demo's, etc.
Also, surely if the greatest hits II featured Umbrella, then Ghosts Of Christmas would also. (even though it was neither great or a hit!)

The first Manics gig I saw was Wembley on the FD tour. The difference between that gig and the (5) other times I've seen them is that on the FD tour they only (if memory serves, there might be one or two exceptions) played singles. Of course, they usually play singles heavy sets (the fans only b-sides gig and the JFPL tour being the exceptions) because they think, rightly, that's what people largely want. The ridiculous thing was they had this big vote on the official website for the FD tour about which songs to play, in which lots of album tracks (especially of THB, of course) came out really high but then they just ignored it.
As for the album itself, I really don't see that it would make any sense to release a single disc of post-FD material. They've only released 8 proper singles in that time, so it would have to include stuff like Underdogs, Secret Society, Umbrella, The Ghost of Christmas and a couple of JFPL songs. I really can't see that seelling at all outside the fanbase, especially since they haven't had any big hits in the bperiod that weren't on SATT. So, I would imagine they will either release a complete singles collection (which would probably have to go onto 3 discs), or a 2-disc best of. Personally, I hope it's the latter, if only because then we could have fun arguing about the tracklisting.

why would they put it on? It's hardly a greatest hit.
