Not what I was expecting but at least its interesting! I don't have much knowledge of jazz but it reminded me of parts of Amnesiac.

So the album is circulating then (even if Maconie got both the title and release details wrong). Hopefully there isn't too much longer to wait then.

A new Nicky track! An instrumental! "Migraine number one".
Played on Stuart Maconie 6 Music show just now. And I wasn't listening!
I keep reading Migraine Number One and hoping Nicky will explain that it is somehow related to Mambo Number Five.

Only if it becomes the theme tune for Channel 4 Cricket. And gets complaints for not setting the tone of the show!
I had no idea there was going to be challenging pieces of music and strangely, I'm here for it! Would love the Manics to go full on Jazz Odyssey. But even though Migraine number 1 isn't that far. It's still weirder than anything they've done before.

Now i don't know what to expect from the new album which is a great place to be in, but that is something else. Nicky is turning into howard moon, the jazz fusion minstrel.

Only listened once on phone speaker, entirely unexpected but interesting! Could be great on earphones. Can't wait for the album and a tour I hope

The episode is called La Dusseldorf La Dusseldorf
Try 1 hour 6. Or one hour five. You need to hear that intro!

What did you think? It improves with each listen. Plus, who saw this direction coming?!

Yeah, I like it. I spent some of my formative musical years with a budding jazz freak, and it looks like something rubbed off. It's kinda like something that would be the theme music for a short lived cult British scifi series.

Hahaha! You know that psspssspahpahpsspss electric sound in Radiohead's Everything In It's Right Place? I'm getting similar fearings from the drum pattern in Migraine No One.
So chalking that next to cardboard cutouts of the band.

Do we have any info about a new proper album?
It should have been out before TUVL (together with Even In Exile, as in 2006 before Send Away The Tigers), are these tracks part of a bigger project?
