Ah that's crap. I found them really entertaining. You'd think that Manics fans would appreciate their lyrical themes and their punk spirit!

Random Manics thought that popped in my head just now: I would really love it if the band put out a surprise release during lockdown. Obviously they can't record together, but they must have something in their vaults that could cheer us up while we wait for the December gigs (and their probable postponement...)

Just throwing that out there on the off chance any of the Manics lurk here

Door To The River already has this policy of only allowing a set number of people (is it no more than 5 people in the studio?) so I have been thinking "Yeah, lockdown 'n that but... Could they do parts bit by bit?".

How far on with writing the next album are they? I'm sure in the past there's been tales of Nicky writing lyrics and posting them to James who then wrote the music (pretty sure A Design for Life was written that way), so they could be getting on with it that way.

I guess the danger of trying to write something (at least lyrically) about the current situation is the fact we have no idea of how things are going to turn out and how the mood and appreciation of the situation could change drastically.

Saw this on twitter earlier which I can't remember seeing before (if the person who put it up posts on here thanks!), which is the original intended track order for TIMTTMY, the changes being Ready for Drowning and The Everlasting swapped round as well as Black Dog on My Shoulder and My Little Empire.

Ready for Drowning for me would have worked better as album opener, might have to listen to it in this order later.

Apparently an August release date for the JDB album then according to Mojo magazine. Let's hope Nicky delivers his in September!

Echoing the post above, but currently listening to IKTZ - more Nicky solo material would be great.

JDB pic on the front of the new Q magazine reminds me so much of Robert De Niro for some reason... maybe it’s the angle combined with the facial expression... (?)

Not everything can be fixed with laser surgery and there's always a risk it'll go wrong
Plus the specs suit him

Yes, the angle at which his face is, and expression on it, feels very reminiscent of De Niro (who often does a little head tilt) to me.
