Why is Underdogs not on the SATT reissue?
Anyone know?

Because welcome to the deadzone is a much better song they hadn't finished it in time for the album.
Maybe all the complaints about it on this forum got to them I like the song personally.

I don't think we'll ever get an official answer but I wouldn't be surprised if it's because it got such a widespread awkward response, given how self-conscious the band are and how SATT is all about trying to please people.
Or the existence of The Edit was too much to bear.

Curious about that one too, haven't changed order of any of the other reissues.
I loved what Suede did with their batch of reissues in 2011, liner notes had an alternative tracklisting for each one for if they were to go through the album again. Chucking a couple of b-sides in there, taking a couple of tracks off here and there that they're not so fond of, but keeping the order on the actual albums the same. I'd love Manics to do that. Only other times I can think of them mixing with the listing and order are the US Generation Terrorists which had a right shuffle Democracy Coma promoted to the album and the Japanese Everything Must Go which had the usual Japanese bonus tracks but stuck in the middle. Wonder how those decisions came about. Suppose if there's gonna be a TIMT 20 it'll be Prologue that makes the album, but dunno where.

Listen to the end of the first chorus. TH-
But pay heed, for what is once heard cannot be unheard ever again.

After the first chorus you hear a brief "Th"!before the next verse starts.
I'm ok with Underdogs! |

Still seems an odd choice to get rid of it though.

I usually hate revisionism on this level, but I'm OK with it when it comes to my least favourite album with it's low lows. Would be tempted to also bump off Rendition, Patsy, Winterlovers and Working Class Hero if I was given the controls.

I found it odd it wasn't on the reissue. I don't mind it. In the lyrics on the 7" vinyl I swear it lists the chorus twice as as many times it's actually sung. Maybe it's like that too in the album booklet, I can't remember without looking. That edit though, it's classic haha!

I'm sure I recall something about them being paranoid about Dead Zone sounding like some other song, which was why it was left off. After the Tolerate thing maybe they were paranoid about such accusations. I think it's much better than any song that made the album though.

It's a mystery. But to be fair, if you're going to re-write history, you might as well do it re-do the whole thing to accommodate the song properly. If they'd put Boxes & Lists on there in place of Underdogs, that would have probably been a straight swap. Dead Zone it's undeniably a great track, but it's also completely out of position in track 2.
