Torn loyalties for a Lib Dem like myself, but what do other Manics fans make of this?

For me obviously times have changed since I felt united with the boys' hatred of Thatcherism, in the current climate I may have to come to terms with being politically opposite to the band that wooed me with Generation Terrorists.

If Wire's still a big Gordon Brown fan then I feel his voice sounding a bit dated. Also this very speedy fallback to Labour representing working class heroes seems conveniently romantic - perhaps a bid to woo back audiences A Design for Life style? Though I hate to think of them as using public discontent to sell records I think it's a relevant question.

Perhaps Clegg will turn out to be a ****, his current polls are bad, but his popularity could wax and wane as Blair's kept doing and see his party doing well - let's face it, for all the controversy of the coalition's cuts they've hardly actually done anything yet other than create a bit of anxiety that most people probably still blame Labour for anyway.

Also isn't Clegg just the easiest target to knock at the moment who's actually in office? Surely deep down they're more opposed to Tories than Lib Dems, but of course it's hardly cool to knock a man who's just lost his father and recently a child too, even if he is PM.

I can't really see their 'poetic voice' leading the way in the music scene if this predictable and see-through rant is the best they can come up with - but if I'm the one who's not seeing things how they are then I'm sure you'll let me know.

Kinda ironic, given the nature of the new album. Surely this recession isn't the worst we've ever had...certainly doesn't seem like it.

Wire actually echoes my sentiments, I loved Cleggy and genuinely to thought he was the LDs best shot. I delivered leaflets for him with some friends, for him to join the Tories was bad but I've seen very little sign of any Lib Dem goals being achieved, if they'd just waited rather than pouncing for power they could have cleaned up at the next election.

It really does make me miss Gordon Brown

I follow politics a lot less than I used to which is a shame.

And to the OP: They don't knock Cameron because that's obvious and you would expect Cameron to do things they object to, Clegg let down Wire and myself, Cameron was exactly what I expected.

He hasn't joined the Tories though, it's a coalition, and they have the course of a Parliament to achieve their goals, not four months. Since when did anything happen in politics in four months?

It's a little bit more than a coalition, I know he hasn't joined the party but him and Cameron seem to get along really well and pay no attention to the indignation from both sides at the arrangement.

4 months is still a while and we've seen all sorts of Tory policies, particulary economically but I've seen nothing at all Lib Dem shaped, I'm prepared to give them a year but I'm not hopeful.
