postcards - the gospel choirs
i am not sure if it is the voices or the production, but the gospel choirs sound more "white suburbanites singing for jesus and lower taxes" at the mall, rather than "dirty and spiritual down south", if you get what i mean...

They sound charmingly Welsh, just like they should. Anything else would be lame.

The gospel choirs are by far the best thing to happen to PFAYM.

I think Nicky said on the BBC that all the musicians were local . . . so there you go. Spiritual down south Wales perhaps.

I really like the choirs - I was terrified when I read about it but I think it works very well.

Should get a proper Welsh Male Voice choir one of these days. (Not heard the album yet so can't comment on the choirs used on it just yet!).

They should use that Finnish shouting choir on the next album.

If they backed them for a live performance of Of Walking Abortion, it might just be the best Manics gig ever.

Which Welsh Choir do we think would be best? Lets have a battle of the choirs!

ah, come on, you know what i mean... it is great, i love the idea of a big sound, but if SKON had been sanctified by the same depth and raw beauty as, say, "shine a light" it would have been massively great. now it is just, well, great. obviously it is not just about the singers, but how it has been recorded and produced, and i just can't help but hear a lost opportunity.

I can only think of the Fron Male Voice Choir and I wouldn't want to put them forward.

I could only think of them as well! They're ok, got one of their records. Heard a very good one at the Shrewsbury Flower show one year but can't remember which part of Wales they were from.
