A Design For Life - 15 years ago today

Today (15 April) is the 15th anniversary of the release of the ADFL single. It's my favourite Manic single, considering the b-sides. I was so excited when it came out because it was the first new release since I had discovered the band at the end of 1994. I actually didn't buy it, though, until a trip to the UK in March 1997, and it reminds of that trip. It was the first time I ever went to Wales.

Bought it the day it came out, with Generation Terrorists. Bought the other two albums in the lead up the EMG's release.

Wow, 15 years. Either this on Top Of The Pops, or Suicide Is Painless on a compilation, was the first Manics song I heard during my final year of primary school. And so it began...

Well fuck me. I remember listening to it on Chris Evans's breakfast show on Radio 1 and thinking it was American, and pretty heavy at that.

I bought it from Woolies on the day it came out. It was my first Manics new release and I remember being very excited.

I have vague recollections of being sat in the back seat of the car while it was being played on the radio, so it was definitely the first Manics song that I heard. I wouldn't become a fan until 14 and a bit years later though!

Aye, I remember hearing and enjoying it in the back of my folks' car when I was small. But I couldn't decipher the words, just liked the sound of the syllabuls James was shouting.

Oh, me neither, it was 'art design for her life' or something like that for me.
