I think with these stories you can always assume it's a woman. Richey only seemed to gay-up for show.

Oh, I think you'll find that they did much more than just kiss. In fact, one of the things that in a way impresses me is that she doesn't dish too much dirt...just the basics. And yes, I believ it's 100% true despite her use of very obvious general knowledge of the band. I personally think she's written in that manner because this incident happened so long ago (almost 20 years now) that she needed to create a back story to support her "adventure". That's the way I see it, but I could be totally wrong.

Yep, bit don't tell that to the writers of various slasher fic. They seem rather convinced Richey and Nicky were REALLY bed buddies. Still, it's all fantasy and people are entitled to live it up in their heads and if need be, write it down.

Where Richey is concerned however, I do think it's true, based on eye-witness accounts, that he was "experimenting" with men in about '93, but whether or not this experimental phase went beyond kissing, it's highly doubtful. As you say, it's likely he made a show of making out with men for attention, but who knows really. I think it's safe to assume Edward's was more hetro then even he really wanted to admit.

This is the first time I've seen this article, but I did find it an interesting read.
Some people on the original thread seem to be offended by the fact that she'd written it but I personally found it an interesting read, no matter what the motivation was behind releasing it. She didn't provide too many details so it wasn't too revealing as all the 'gory' details were kept private.
Stories like this may be seen as 'cashing in' on Richey and his disappearance, but they're useful for people like me, who weren't around when Richey was in the band. Richey disappeared just before my second birthday so obviously I'm never going to get a chance to meet him or find out about him for myself so stories like this give people like me an opportunity to get a well-rounded view of what he was like as a person, other than just what he was like in interviews.

I don't see why there's a problem with her talking about it. It's not like she's breaking some kind of sacred bond. I have a feeling that some people don't like to believe that Richey was just like any of young bloke would be in that situation - he used his fame to pick up girls for sex, and didn't just spend all his time crying in darkened rooms.

Hahaha, well exactly!
It's like people are only allowed to talk about what a poor, innocent, troubled little lamb he was and how he needed to be protected.
They don't want to think about him having sex with girls, which by the sound of things he did quite often, because they think it'll ruin this perfect image they have of him in their head, where he's more of a god-like creature than an ordinary person.

I couldn't have put it better myself. I enjoyed the article, it's a lot more real and human than any interview or any quote.
