Reading/Leeds 2011 (Rumor/leek)

The most recent issue of Classic Rock has the Manic's playing Reading/Leeds this year (its in the gig listings at the back.) Not sure if its just an error or if they know something we don't!

If this is true, I'm going to set myself on fire along with my Glasto ticket.

Would be good if they were, more Manics fans at Reading than V this year, I'm with most of them.

Yea I'm guessing it was probably just a mistake but you never know, Classic Rock are normally fairly reliable. Also in the same issue they ran a Manic's album guide, so who knows? (I'm not sure if that makes this rumour more or less likely to be true.)

How come they can't do both?
I've heard this before that bands are either at one or the other and I thought it was because they were the same weekend, but they're not.

It's contractual. A band will agree to do stuff like T, Oxygen and V, as long as they don't do Glasto or Reading/Leeds.

The Reading/Leeds bill has been finalised for a good while now so I can't see the Manics sneaking in there.

You never know, they might make an appearance at Glastonbury yet. http://www.nme.com/news/glastonbury/56427

Ok, that one sounds like it could be a bigger band than the Manics but last year they had a few unannounced special guest slots. Errr... Thom Yorke & Johnny Greenwood and Biffy Clyro. Sure there was someone else... Ah, I dunno. Might be worth making sure you're around there at the time though!

'A big band that could potentially be headlining' - My money would be on either Pulp, The Strokes or Arctic Monkeys! Or maybe Foo Fighters. They don't play the British festival circuit anywehere near enough...

God why didn't I think of Pulp? Yeah... I can see that. Still, I think there's one a day of these special guest slots on the Park Stage so you never know...
