Nicky interview in the Guardian

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnrIC...&feature=feedu

I'm sure it's been posted and I'm just being blind. If so please ignore

Interesting interview, gives a few indications about what's happening next...

Also nice to hear him mention Yuck and S.C.U.M who are two really good bands in the current bland indie scene

Aww Wire! "Basically, they're still the only real friends I've got". Bless him.

There's a 30-min full interview audio on the Guardian and John Harris's sites, too.

Perhaps they are looking for a singer who can manage a whole tour without getting laryngitis before they tour again.

I’m being facetious of course, it’s a terrible idea.

i've just seen it...it's just Nicky, sounding like...Nicky. [being absolutely spot about something in one minute, and then managing to say a complete bullshit in the next one]. But that's him. I don't think James really wants to leave the band, it's more likely that he's tired [and after 4 years of working, no one should blame him for that]. I mean, the man's having a baby soon [or he already has, not sure], it's fuckin' obvious he wants some time off, to spend it with his family.
So methinks we shouldn't worry about that.
And Nicky's face expression is really heartbreaking when John Harris mentions Richey for the first time in the clip.

The 30 min interview is better and makes more sense.
Totally agree abt James wanting and needing to take time off to be a Dad It'll be brilliant for him and the band as well, they all need to take some time off and come back even better. They have worked relentlessly for the past 4 to 5 years, they deserve the break.

James is right to want to rest his voice more, he is struggling by the end of a tour. However, the Manics with a different singer wouldn't be the Manics, and I'm not sure I'd be tempted to do multiple gigs. A guest singer to do a couple of duets every gig, and a regular couple of Nickysong slots every gig would be a good compromise. William's Last Words went down great on the JFPL tour.
