It's almost as bad as Underdogs, lyrically. I suppose it worked at the time, now it's just another song by the Manics about the Manics. I still don't really know what the title has to do with the rest of the lyric.

No, the masses are still so in love with the classes.
It's about the working classes and their insistence on sticking to and holding in reverence institutions and authorities which do them no good. Or, at least that's how I always interpret it. I don't think it's a song about the band at all.
