In all seriousness I'm not liking their talk in recent interviews of the next album just being riffs and rock'n'roll.

That just sounds to me to be a whole lot of PFAYM.

Nah, doesn't sound like it to me. They haven't mentioned wanting it to sound overly-commercial, they haven't mentioned gospel choirs, they haven't mentioned needless strings... 'Riffs and rock 'n' roll' could mean a whole load of different things, but my first thought when I think of that 'version' of the Manics is of GT.
