EMG20??? :o
http://www.nme.com/news/manic-street-preachers/83044
Do you all think it's really 'just for a laugh?' Am I getting myself excited for nothing? What's your opinion on an EMG20 tour? I know it's the NME () but...

I couldn't get excited about THB20 as its not one of my favourite Manics albums. EMG20 o the other hand... Please let this happen.
Didn't they say that they would be taking (another) break after this year though?

I hear you. SO many tunes on there I'd die happy hearing live.
IMO they'll definitely be considering it - it marked a new era and if they just played THB tour, it would be unfinished if you get what I mean? Quote:
& we never know!!! Might they have had a change of heart about the break? I'm not seeing a TIMTTMY tour, so I think they're testing the water about an EMG tour, and then they might get one 'over with', so to speak and then having their much deserved break!!! Ahhhh I really hope at least one or two gigs arise!!!

To be fair, playing EMG hardly involves much extra effort, most of it they've been playing fairly regularly, and the others aren't that challenging. Would love to hear interiors/removables though.

They really are turning into a museum band...

Nah.. they'd only be that if they werent releasing new stuff or if the last 2 albums had been shite. They've turned out to be 2 of the best of their career.
I half suspected they'd want to do another album tour seeing as this one has been such a success. Cool if it happens.. i missed the emg tour

I'd love them to do an EMG20 tour. I love how the feel and meaning of a song can change when played in the context the album. The THB songs were amazingly powerful when played as part of the album set and I think EMG would be euphoric.
I definitely don't agree they're becoming a museum band at all. There is nothing wrong with a band celebrating their past work and I think the album sets are a great way to do this. |

I'd be much more interested in hearing a TIMT tour...that album gets ignored far too much, except the singles.

or two new albums in the last 53 months which also included a singles collection and a re-issue!

This thread already goes to show why EMG20 would be a great idea. I don't think that there are many of us who would pick the same top 3 albums, so while THB20 was important to many of you, there are many of us that don't hold it in the same light. EMG was massive for me, and I'm hoping and praying that this happens. Obviously, they can't tour every album on its 20th anniversary, but few can argue that these 2 albums are their most important and deserve celebrating.
As for this laughable 'museum band' comment, with a band that has a rich 25 year history, it's inevitable that they will stop and take stock once in a while. They deserve it.
