Cool James's favourite vinyls - a Spotify playlist

James made a video this year of his favourite vinyl records (didn't even mention Lifeblood or Lipstick Traces!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy01vJOVswE

If you wanted to listen along, I've made a Spotify playlist of all the tracks (about 98% were available)

Nor me. I’ve long got the feeling he doesn’t really ‘do’ mainstream

25 - Sex Pistols - God Save the Queen
26 - Johnny Thunders - You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory (covered by MSP in 2007 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmLQjXlgM5M)
27 - The Saints - I'm Stranded
28 - Love Unlimited - Under the Influence of Love
29 - Nina Simone - Compensation
30 - Sault - Wildfires
31 - Holly Near - It Could Have Been Me
32 - Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever - Falling Thunder
33 - John Cale - I Keep a Close Watch
34 - Nico - Desertshore (album)

That Rammstein album sounds very THB/JFPL'ish

I've been slowly making my way through this.

My biggest takeaway so far is that early Tom Jones is actually great. The Wah, I can definitely see the Manics falling in love with that. The jump from Jara to the artist following him was a bit like the last Simon & Garfunkle on your mp3 player giving way to Stone Sour. There's actually loads, and it's equal parts a fascinating insight into what makes JDB JDB, a splendidly curated adventure in New music, and just really enjoyable.

On that note, cheers for taking the time to compile it and share it with us, uef. I really appreciate it.

I thought the same, about Tom Jones. Some bangers on that.

Not sure about the 6 songs for Democracy, guessing some of the appeal is the old fashioned “album” format it came in...
